You Have Got to be Kidding Me...

I was listening to NPR the other day (for the record, I've been dying to start a blog post that way for like...ever.)and I heard this story. This is crazy. So many things are wrong with this. I almost don't want to go to Dunkin Doughnuts anymore because they pulled the ad.

I saw that story in another forum - one of the other blogs that I read regularly linked to it, and I was amazed.

Yeah, I can see that the scarf is kind of similar to the one Arafat was always wearing, but to make that connection and yank the ad for that reason is ridiculous and hyper sensitive.

Upon further review, however, I do actually support the pulling of the ad, but not for the reason provided.

Instead, it should've been pulled because of the crappy photoshop work.

There's no way in hezbolah that she's standing in front of a real tree. The fuggo is greenscreened.

I must admit, I was stratled to see the sudden popularity of the scarf in a number of different media spots because I associate is very strongly with the Palestinian cause, but I also realize that fashion sometimes bases itself purely on the visual and not the symbolism behind it.
