I would have peed...

I was just on four different planes in the past four days and there is no way I could have handled this situation.

I don't fly well. It scares the crap out of me. I wouldn't get on an airplane again in my life if it weren't for my involvement with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I think the lack of control and the fact that no one can tell me that I will for sure return from my flight are the two things that get me. During take off and landing I pray more Hail Marys than the rest of the year combined.

Interestingly enough, I love to travel and see new places. I dig hotel rooms. I have a nice little routine everytime I get to stay in a new place. I take out and organize all my toiletries, then take my shoes out of the suitcase. After this, I get ice. I don't necessarily ever use the ice, but it's part of my little routine. As a teacher, you wouldn't think I'd be traveling for business all that often, but I do. I've participated in conferences for IB, NSTA and LLS and stay alone in hotel rooms about once a year. As such, I've visited LA, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Dallas, St. Louis, Phoenix, New Orleans and most recently, Miami. I think I was most impressed with Dallas and it's public transit system.

I do not, however, travel alone. With the exception of the IB conferences, I've visited the above mentioned cities with another teacher and he deserves a bit of credit for dealing with the insanity that is riding with me in an airplane.

Maybe one day I'll relax about the whole flying thing and just enjoy the fact that people were able to figure out how to defy gravity and lift tons of metal into the air and move it thousands of miles away from where it started. It would be nice because I'd really like to visit Europe and Hawaii at some point. I'd also like to take my kids some place fun. I'm going to have to get over this irrational fear if any of that is going to happen, though...

I've flown alone so many times that I'm not sure I could handle the likes of someone else's travel habits.

Sadly, I'm to the point that if he wasn't with me I might not be able to adapt...we've flown to 5 different cities together.
