It's Overwhelming

Yesterday was intense. In fact, the last two days were intense. As my day at school ended on Friday, my other job began. I left school at 3:00 so that I could get home in time to walk before I grabbed the kids from the sitter. Then I made dinner and we were off to Thompson Park to get the little one's softball uniform, then to the oldest's baseball practice. After dropping him off, the little one and I ran a few errands and then it was back to the ballpark to pick him up. He was invited to a party, so we dashed home so he could shower. While he did, I cleaned a bathroom. Then we jetted back to the west side of town to take the oldest to a party, and then it was back to the house to finish cleaning and 'round 11:00 when I wanted SO MUCH to go to sleep, it was back to the west side to pick up the oldest.

The next day, I was up at 6:30am so I could walk and get my kids to their baseball/softball games after making them a nice nutritious breakfast, of course. After dropping the oldest off at his game - one hour and fifteen minutes before the game started - the little one and I were off to cash checks so I have the cash on hand for the pizza party for Pasta for Pennies on Tuesday.

So, once the games started I was pretty much all set. All responsibilities were taken care of and I was able to enjoy my kids. It was great. I was thrilled to be able to actually relax and watch the games because I had done all my chores. It was nice. It didn't hurt that both kids won their games and performed very well.

The oldest pitched two shut-out innings(the boys are only 40 pitches the first week of Little League) and hit a homerun. The little one stole 4 bases and scored twice. It was an absolutely beautiful day and completely enjoyable.

There are times when I'm really happy I'm so obsessed with planning, if I wasn't, I wouldn't be able to get anything accomplished and I'd never stop to enjoy the important stuff. Yesterday, I did and I'm gonna work a little more diligently to make sure I enjoy as much of this year's baseball and softball season as possible.
